Living life with less fear and more self-confidence
The “First Aid for Children’s Souls” project in Cologne offers psychosocial support for refugees and socially disadvantaged children who have experienced trauma. The aim is to strengthen the children’s resilience and help them live a more fear-free, self-confident and stable life.
In close cooperation with primary schools in Cologne and the surrounding area, two coordinated measures are offered: a group measure for ten children at a time and an individual measure. Both run for ten weeks and are based on the sandplay method – a non-verbal, playful form of therapy in which children can express their experiences in the sandpit with figures.
The children gain self-confidence, develop social skills and often find new courage to face life.
