Enhancing students’ mental health
The aim of Kopfsachen e.V. is to strengthen mental health in schools in the long term and to promote an open approach to stress, anxiety and crisis situations. In particular, the project supports young people from socially disadvantaged families, so they do not have to cope with stress alone.
The focus is on the ‘Kopf & Herz’ (Head & Heart) club – a special place at school where mental health is treated as naturally as Maths or English lessons. Here, young people strengthen each other, organise support services and help younger classmates. They are trained as ‘Mental Health Ambassadors’ in workshops and pass on their knowledge and experiences to the entire school team.
The programme is aimed at secondary schools and offers age-appropriate activities, resilience and self-empowerment workshops, and designated contact persons. Parents are also involved and learn to recognise warning signs early on so that they can provide appropriate support to their children. In this way, the school community becomes a safe and empowering place for mental health.
