MAXI gets children ready for school

Through the MAXI Preschool Project, Jugendhilfe Essen gGmbH supports children before they start school, together with their families, at the family primary school centres Bergmühlenschule in Bergeborbeck and Schule an der Viktoriastraße in Katernberg. The project aims to create conditions for a successful and equitable transition to primary school.

Over the course of three school years, regular local activities are offered at the participating schools and, additionally, at cooperating daycare centres. Playful language development, social learning, and gentle preparation for everyday school life help children strengthen essential basic skills. Topics such as physical activity, health, and reliable daily routines are also included. Parents are actively involved through discussions, workshops, and joint activities, and are empowered in their role as educational companions for their children. Close cooperation with schools, daycare centers, and other partners enables tailored support and facilitates the transition to primary school.
