Inclusive dance activities for children with special educational needs in South Wales
“My Moves Kids” by Arts Care Gofal Celf is a movement-based project that provides children and young people with additional learning needs in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion access to dance. Through regular after-school and holiday classes, as well as workshops in local schools and support centres, experienced dancers create safe, supportive spaces where every child can explore their body and discover their own way of expressing themselves.
The project closes the gap in inclusive dance provision and offers targeted, easily accessible opportunities for children who often cannot find a place in mainstream groups. The classes encourage joy in movement, build self-confidence, and support social development and emotional well-being – with individual support and age-appropriate methods.
A further focus is on supporting parents and families. While the children dance, parents can relax, share experiences and build networks in a protected setting. The project helps create liveable communities and strengthens the participation of all families.
