A place for exchange

The project “Hoodläufer:in” (Hood Runners) aims to integrate young refugees into the Henstedt-Ulzburg community and connect them with their peers. They should be accompanied and supported in getting to know their new living environment better: Where do young people meet and what kind of offers are there?

The hood runners help their mentees break down barriers, overcome their fears, help them navigate their living environment, and make friends. They do voluntary work and thus make an important contribution to social coexistence. As part of their training, they learn how to lead youth groups and are sensitised to other cultures. The hood runners project stands for an open, tolerant, and fair society and places great importance on intercultural understanding and exchange. The encounters between young people from different cultural backgrounds promote mutual understanding and interest in other worlds.
