Creating perspectives and enabling paths to self-determination
The aim of the project is to prepare children, adolescents and young adults in residential youth care, i.e. in foster families, residential groups, children’s homes or children’s villages, for the transition to independent living at an early stage. In an interactive workshop, they work with a so-called perspectives ambassador to develop their own initial ideas for the future and strengthen their self-efficacy.
What makes this concept special is that the perspective ambassadors have themselves lived in youth care and give authentic accounts of their personal life journeys – often marked by obstacles, but also by successful self-determination. This gives the young participants a tangible role model and teaches them that “I too can go my own way.”
