Creating more opportunities for the future by promoting digital skills
The “Starter Project – Start of School in Essen” offers children without access to daycare a valuable opportunity for intensive and focused educational and developmental support in the crucial year before they start school.
This initiative is designed to reach children and families who have experienced little or no previous contact with the German education system. By fostering strong relationships with parents and promoting essential foundational skills in children, the project aims to ensure the receipt of best possible support as the children embark on their educational journey.
To reduce barriers to participation, the programme is held directly at the school the children will attend, eliminating the need for families to travel to unfamiliar locations. This familiar setting moreover helps children become comfortable with their school as both a learning environment and a place where they belong.
The project offers a holistic approach, combining language education, social and emotional skill development for children, and workshops for parents – all working together to create greater opportunities for participation and success.
