Successful educational biographies

The starter project aims to prepare children from socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods with little or no nursery experience for the transition into primary school  – in the best possible way. The project intends to strengthen children’s basic skills and actively involves parents in the educational process.

The starter project is being carried out at our two funded family primary school centres in Essen – at the ”Bergmühlenschule” in Bergeborbeck and “Schule an der Viktoriastraße” in Katernberg. Many children in these neighbourhoods have no access to early childhood education and therefore start their school careers at a disadvantage.

Over the course of a year, two-hour support sessions will be held three times a week at the schools or in cooperating daycare centres. The focus will be on topics such as language development, social learning ,and school preparation. Workshops and parent-child activities aim to further strengthen parental involvement in education and promote cultural integration.
