Self-regulation skills as the basis for mental health
The project, led by the Kinder Forschen Foundation in collaboration with the Charité University Medicine in Berlin, aims to strengthen the self-regulation skills of children aged 3 to 6. These self-regulation skills form the foundation for long-term educational success and mental well-being. To achieve this, educational professionals are working primarily with children and parents from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to receive targeted training.
Evidence-based programmes and the ‘inquiry-based learning’ tool are used to foster children’s sense of self-efficacy and to strengthen emotional abilities such as frustration tolerance. A combination of digital and face-to-face formats – including webinars, in-house training sessions, and observation tools – ensures that these practices are sustainably integrated into daily educational routines.
